Bokashi 2.0 is a new generation of kitchen compost that suits you who want a beautiful and efficient container in your kitchen.
Bokashi 2.0 Ocean is made from at least 30% collected and recycled fishing nets! Abandoned fishing nets and other plastic are catastrophic for the wildlife in our seas - to be able to offer a bucket made of this material. Bokashi also donate 5% of the surplus from the sale of Bokashi 2.0 Ocean to projects that clean the oceans of plastic. The remaining material in the bucket is, like our other crane buckets, made of recycled plastic.
The bokashi process is basically the same as with our other bokashi buckets with crane, but this bucket works in a new way. Instead of a tight-fitting lid, the bucket has an inner plate that is sucked into the container at the height of the food leftovers to shut out air and compress the leftovers. Because extremely little oxygen enters the process, the process becomes very efficient.
The fermented food residues become drier than in an ordinary bucket, which means less risk of odor. You also get more of the coveted bokashi leachate from the new Bokashi 2.0 than from a traditional tap bucket.
The dimensions of the bucket are:
Volume: 9.6 liters
Height: 34 cm
Diameter: 24 cm
Weight: 2.8 kg
Plastic: PP (5)
The round plate that makes the bucket airtight inside has a silicone edge that makes it easy to press into place. You push it down and thus squeeze out air and together the leftover food. When you want to pull it up to add more leftover food, pull on the larger half of the handles, which releases the vacuum and you can lift out the plate.
The plate also has another function, and that is to scrape out the bucket when you empty it. Smart! With one hand, you can press the plate together into a semicircle that you can then scrape with. It is just the right size to make the bucket clean and smudge-free without getting sticky yourself. And you can then put the parts in the dishwasher (max 50 degrees) to get a fresh start.
The bucket has a soft handle that you can use as a traditional handle by attaching it to both sides of the bucket. You can also attach both ends to the same side and lift the bucket with one hand grip.
The new Bokashi 2.0 bucket has an inner bucket and an outer bucket. The inner bucket has drainage holes and a round bottom that drains the leftover food in a smooth way. The inner bucket can be lifted out to be cleaned or emptied.
Bokashi leachate comes just as it usually does, the process is basically the same. The difference is that you will probably get a little more and less smelly leachate from the new Bokashi 2.0 as the process works in a very efficient way.
The leachate is drained out through the drainage hole at the bottom of the bucket. Unlike previous buckets, there is no advanced crane solution, but an ordinary screw cap. Do not drop it!
There is then no risk that the food remains get stuck in the tap and block the function, or that it breaks or leaks.
The bokashi process itself is exactly the same with this bucket as with our traditional crane buckets. You fill the bucket and sprinkle on bokashi litter, and give it two weeks to ferment when it is filled. Then you bury the fermented bokashin in the garden or make a soil factory inside or outside - just as usual.
The new Bokashi 2.0 is designed to be both stylish and efficient. It makes it possible for even those who want everything in the kitchen to be stylish to be able to get started with Bokashi directly on the kitchen counter.
Swedish-produced biocharcoal
We think we have found Sweden's best biocharcoal! Sustainably produced from seed, shell and grain residues by the company Skånefrö. Approved for organic farming. biocharcoal is perfect in combination with Bokashi and fantastic for the earth! Bottom your bokashi bucket with biocharcoal and you are loading it with nutrients and microbes that are useful in the soil for a long time. Biocharcoal then functions as a nutrient reserve that keeps the plants in perfect condition throughout the season and for many years to come. Clay soils become more loose and easy to work with and sandy soils increase their ability to bind water and nutrients.
By starting the bucket with a layer of biochar, the leachate is absorbed and the biochar is loaded with nutrients that benefit the soil and the plants. When carbon is bound in the soil, the nutrients remain instead of being converted to carbon dioxide. The result is a fantastic soil. Very black and extremely nutritious. It gives the soil new life and contributes to more lush vegetation.
